Get accredited before the window shuts. Understand the routes, weigh the trade-offs and begin with a clear eligibility check.

What accreditation opens

Access shaped for sophisticated capital.

Accreditation can change minimum ticket sizes, commercial terms and the products available to you.

01

AIF access below ₹1 crore

Invest below the regular ₹1 crore minimum, subject to the fund’s PPM disclosures and agreed terms.

02

PMS access below ₹50 lakh

Become a PMS client below the regular ₹50 lakh minimum, subject to disclosure-document disclosures and agreed terms.

03

Negotiated adviser fees

Agree Investment Adviser fees bilaterally, without the fee limits and modes that otherwise apply.

04

AI-only opportunities

Access products and services designed and offered exclusively to Accredited Investors.

05

Angel fund gateway

Accreditation becomes the gateway to angel-fund participation after the transition window.

Eligibility

One of three routes for individuals.

The same routes apply to individuals, HUFs, family trusts and sole proprietorships.

Route 01

Income

₹2 crore

Annual income of at least ₹2 crore.

Route 02

Net worth

₹7.5 crore

Net worth of at least ₹7.5 crore, including at least ₹3.75 crore in financial assets.

Route 03

Income + net worth

₹1 Cr + ₹5 Cr

Annual income of at least ₹1 crore and net worth of at least ₹5 crore, including ₹2.5 crore in financial assets.

For net-worth routes, the primary residence is excluded from the calculation.

Joint accreditation

Two permitted configurations

  • Spouses: combined income or net worth is pooled — if the total meets a route, the application qualifies.
  • Parent(s) and child(ren): at least one member must qualify independently.

Entities

Criteria by structure

  • Partnership firm: every partner must independently meet an individual route.
  • Non-family trust: net worth of at least ₹50 crore.
  • Body corporate: net worth of at least ₹50 crore.

Fees

Shared after your eligibility check.

The fees are shared with you after the eligibility check, inside your private application link and before you pay anything.

Considerations

A deliberate decision, not a badge.

Accreditation offers wider access, but it comes with real cost, disclosure and protection trade-offs.

01

Application cost

CVL charges a non-refundable processing fee, a certificate fee and applicable taxes.

02

Fresh renewal

Renewal requires a fresh application with financial documents, and the same CVL charges apply again.

03

Financial disclosure

The process involves detailed income, net-worth or audited financial information being disclosed to the Accreditation Agency.

04

Reduced protections

Accredited Investors may forgo certain regulatory safeguards, and AI products may receive lighter regulatory oversight.

Common questions

Asked before applying.

Grounded in Reg. 19B, SEBI (Alternative Investment Funds) Regulations, 2012 and the SEBI accredited-investor framework administered through CVL.

What is a SEBI Accredited Investor?

An Accredited Investor is a person or entity recognised under Regulation 19B of the SEBI (Alternative Investment Funds) Regulations, 2012 as financially sophisticated, based on income or net-worth thresholds. Accreditation is granted by a SEBI-recognised Accreditation Agency — CVL (CDSL Ventures Limited) — after verifying financial documents.

What are the eligibility criteria for individuals?

An individual qualifies through one of three routes: annual income of at least ₹2 crore; net worth of at least ₹7.5 crore with at least ₹3.75 crore in financial assets; or a combination of ₹1 crore annual income plus ₹5 crore net worth including ₹2.5 crore in financial assets. The primary residence is excluded from net-worth calculations. The same routes apply to HUFs, family trusts and sole proprietorships.

Can my spouse and I apply jointly?

Yes. For spouses, combined income or net worth is pooled — if the total meets a route, the joint application qualifies. A parent-child joint application is also permitted, but at least one member must meet the criteria independently.

What happens after 31 March 2027?

Angel funds registered with SEBI after 10 September 2025 can already accept only Accredited Investors. Angel funds registered on or before that date may, until 31 March 2027, offer investment opportunities to at most 200 non-Accredited Investors. After 31 March 2027 they cannot accept contributions for an investee company from non-Accredited Investors. Investors who are not accredited by then lose access to new angel-fund deals until they complete accreditation.

What does accreditation cost?

CVL charges its own processing and certificate fees, which vary by investor type and certificate validity, plus GST. The fees for your application are shared with you after the eligibility check, inside your private application link and before any payment.

Who prepares the net-worth certificate?

As Chartered Accountants, we prepare and sign the CA net-worth certificate with a UDIN, prepare the client undertaking, and submit the complete application to CVL on your behalf. You only upload your supporting financial documents.

How long does the accreditation process take?

Once your documents are complete and verified, we prepare the certification and submit to CVL. CVL then processes the application and issues the accreditation certificate. We keep you informed at each stage — from document verification through certificate issuance.
